Title: Red & Blue Dragonflies
Medium: Japanese Ink Wash on Board
When I first came to Japan in July 2011, we visited the Hasedera Temple in Kamakura, an ancient Samurai City one hour from Tokyo by train. It was the first time in my life I had ever seen Blue (and Red) Dragonflies.
Upon visiting the Singapore Zoo, we met MOHAN, the white tiger. My mother has always loved white tigers, and so his face inspired me to paint the composition on the right.
Datai Beach-Langkawi, Malaysia - one of the most beautiful sunsets I had ever seen.
Living in Tokyo has enabled travel to other parts of Asia - a blessing for our family; and artistic inspiration for me. Many times I will consult my photographs for inspirational compositions in my paintings. Memories of travel bring me a sense of peaceful adventure and always remind me of the "small place" I occupy in the world.
