Temari Balls are a traditional Japanese craft. Historically, mothers would make these "balls" out of old Kimono rags and sew intricate designs. Courtesans would also use this craft to demonstrate their sewing skills to their Shoguns to gain favoritism. Still being made today, Temari Balls are made out of more traditional materials. However; their beauty is still undeniable. Friends of mine in Tokyo made these and I did a photo session to highlight the intricacy of the beauty and to further my appreciation of our temporary home in Japan.
